You Will Never Be That Person Again
And thank god for that. Because she wasn't ready for this.
The Before
Before 2020, I was hyper-independent. High-achieving. Push, push, push. Go, go, go.
I was a business owner. A mom of three boys. I had survived a horrible divorce in 2009 and built a life from the ashes. I thought I knew what survival looked like. I thought I was strong.
Then Ty and I got married. We had 40 days of bliss. I thought everything was finally coming together. I thought I was safe.
On January 30, 2020, my entire existence shattered in a moment. My son JT died by suicide.
The person I was before that day? She died too. I knew it instantly. I looked at a picture of myself in Year 1 and wrote: "I am never going to be this person again."
I didn't know who I was going to be. But I knew I wasn't her anymore. And I still had two other boys who needed their mom, even if she was broken.
The Survival (Years 1 & 2)
Let's be honest about what comes after the shattering. It isn't always pretty. It isn't always "healing."
Year 1 was about numbness. I drank to stay under the surface. I didn't want to feel. I just wanted to get through the hour.
Year 2 was about function. I had a business. I had employees. I had two other sons who needed me to show up. So I did. But I didn't function well. I was a ghost in my own life, moving through the motions while my soul was still on the floor.
People talk about "moving on." I never tried to move on. I knew that was a lie. But I was still trying to force my new, shattered reality into my old, intact life. I was trying to wear a skin that no longer fit.
The Snail Trail (Year 3)
The turning point wasn't a breakthrough. It was a walk on the beach.
It was the end of Year 2, heading into Year 3. I was at a women's healing retreat. All I kept hearing was, "Break open so you can heal. Break it open."
It felt like pressure. It felt like another thing I had to do. So I left. I walked down the beach to get away from the noise.
And there, in the sand, I saw them. Snails. Dozens of them. And their trails.
A snail trail is not linear. It doesn't go straight. It loops. It goes backward. It goes sideways. It's messy.
Forward, backward, sideways, and around.
I realized in that moment: I am never going to fully "heal" from this loss. Not in the way people mean. The grief isn't going to disappear. The hole isn't going to close.
And strangely? That was the first time I felt free.
The Shift: Reclaiming My Vessel
Once I stopped looking for an end point, I started looking at my foundation.
For years, therapists and healers told me to "take care of my vessel" and "regulate my nervous system." I had no idea what that meant. I was spiritually curious, but biologically depleted.
The real awakening happened in November 2024.
I started a GLP-1 protocol. Almost immediately, the hot flashes that had been plaguing me vanished. I shed 34 pounds. I could move without pain. I could breathe. For the first time in years, I felt good in my body.
That physical relief opened the door to everything else. Over the last year and a half, I've stopped guessing and started knowing.
Lab Work
I stopped assuming and started testing. Knowing my levels changed everything.
Hormone Replacement & Peptides
Supporting my biology so my spirit has the energy to do the heavy lifting.
Nutrition & Toxins
Becoming aware of what I put in and on my body. Cleaning up the environment around me so my nervous system isn't fighting a constant battle against inflammation.
It's not just about one supplement. It's about curating a life where my body feels safe enough to feel my feelings.
You can't do deep spiritual work while your body is stuck in survival mode.
